Today was a good day. I went with the FCC youth this morning to work at Red Star Baptist Church's food pantry in Cape Girardeau. What an incredible ministry!! What sets this ministry apart from most food ministries is the prayer and devotion time before the food is distributed. Well over a hundred people had the opportunity to share prayer requests and hear a message. Then the food activity begins with a flurry. They gave generous sacks/boxes of food to 86 families. Some families were as big as ten members! Our youth pushed out shopping carts to the cars and helped load the groceries. It's this personal touch that also makes the ministry special.
I'm glad that missions is partnering with Kingdom Minded churches like Red Star...I'm also glad that there are regular opportunities through FCC to give beyond ourselves! Whether it be the nursing home or a food pantry you can serve!!! Red Star's next food pantry in March 28. Do you want to go? Just e-mail me at pastormike@fruitlandcommunity.com.
For the Kingdom!
Mike
