FCC 10 Year Building Anniversary
FCC began meeting at North Elementary, September 12, 1999. So, this September came and our church quietly became 12 years old. Hard to imagine...stories can and should be told about those first years in the school! We met at North for a little over 2 years. God began to very quickly move us into a permanent house of worship. Here are some significant dates in the history of our building:
- May 2000 - Lynwood Baptist Church purchased 10 acres on Hwy 61
- October 2000 - “Seeking, Sowing, Reaping” capital campaign was launched to raise funds for the new building.
- November 19, 2000 - “Celebration Sunday” with $350,000 pledged for the new building.
- April 1 2001 - Groundbreaking service on the church property.
- June 14, 2001 - 120 Chilton Baptist Builders arrive in Fruitland and the shell of our building was up and roofed in one week!
- Summer of 2001 - 13 mission teams come to FCC to do finishing work on the building and mission projects.
- October 7, 2001 - First service in our new building with 198 in attendance.
- October 21, 2001 - FCC Building Dedication service.
- Come to our celebration on October 23 and give thanks to the Lord. We will have a church carry-in dinner after the 10:30 service.
- Give to our “10 Year Anniversary Fund” to go to the effort to give our building a face-lift. You can bring that offering to the Oct. 23 celebration or give any time this year.
- Give to our regular “Building Fund” to reduce the principal on our debt. We owe about $218,000 on our one million dollar property and building. That’s amazing!
- Volunteer to help in prepping various areas of our church for drywall repair and painting.
